how to make and ice ring for playing hockey on?

we are getting about a foot of snow tomorrow, and i herd in a movie they made an ice rink in the back yard by shoveling snow and filling it with water. and my friend told me to scrap the snow till its only an inch on the groundand spray it with the hose, and then once it freezes fill it with water. i want to know how to make a rink. dont give me any thing like go buy plastic because i am not ganna go buy plastic.

i’ve never tried that i just make a frame out of wood, cover it with tarp, fill it with water, and put up plywood boards to stop the puck from leaving the ice.
