by oskay Question by Bansuri Heartbeat: How can I control mice in my compost and prevent them from hanging out there in the future? I have been composting for a few years now, but only since last year have I been doing above-ground composting (I used to just bury it). I have a big plastic tube-like container that is freestanding and has holes all over the sides so the compost can “breathe,” and decompose more easily. There is no bottom and no lid. I put food scraps in my compost, as well as leaves from my yard and a good amount of soil to cover the food when it is added. I live in Montana where it is pretty cold from October to March.
